TSS Meridian gyrocompass is a compact, portable, heading sensor. It boasts a wide range of interfaces to enable use on any marine vessel. The unit utilizes a DTG gyro element which provides exceptional performance with accuracy unmatched by even the latest fibre optic designs. Unlike conventional spinning mass gyrocompasses, the Meridian Surveyor uses a dry tuned element (DTG) that removes the need for routine maintenance thereby significantly reducing cost of ownership.
The TSS Meridian gyrocompass is generally mounted anywhere on the vessel visible to helmsman steering the vessel, preferably on the fore and aft axis of the vessel.
The location where the gyro to be mounted should be away from magnetic interference like speakers, microphones, ferrous metals and compasses, motors, wiring and electronics etc. The digital heading data in NMEA format output using serial data port RS232 is provided as a data input for logging as well as real time navigation.
